Listed Wagga Cup, May 2

Trade Commissioner finished best to claim the Wagga Wagga Gold Cup.

The Chris Waller-trained Irish-bred imports fought out this event.

Trade Commissioner ($2.75 fav) was eased from his wide barrier (12) by Craig Newitt and settled near last on the rails. He travelled nicely, following a solid pace, but was still giving the leader about eight lengths at the 600m.

He was held up at the turn, switched across heels at the 300m and put in a quick run to challenge at the 100m. He then finished too strongly and won quite impressively, albeit by half a length.

His stablemate Beyond Thankful enjoyed a good trip, fifth one off the rails. He got a split rounding the home turn and hit the lead at the 200m. He then fought back gamely for a good second, just finding the winner a bit too strong in the latter stages.

Price Of Glory raced midfield, trapped deep without cover from his wide barrier (10). He put in a good run (still wide out) at the turn, got to third at the 100m and fought gamely after a difficult trip to take the minor placing.

Too Hi Tek was in front of only two runners at the 600m. He eased wide on turning for home and kept plugging on quite well, just missing third in a photo, to finish (3.9 lengths) fourth.
