Listed Ansett Classic, September 28 - Mornington

Crafty Cruiser upstaged Surpass to claim the Ansett Classic.

Crafty Cruiser soon crossed to take the early lead, then eased to enjoy a good trip, third on the rails.

Michael Walker eased him across heels rounding the home turn to challenge at the 100m. He then finished a little too well to score nicely by a long neck, putting up a good staying effort aided by a faultless ride.

The well-supported Surpass ($1.90 fav) also was given an ideal trip with Nick Hall having him one out and one back before challenging three wide nearing the turn. He took a narrow lead approaching the 100m then battled on for a close second after being given every chance.

Anagold raced outside the leader (Streets Of Seattle) to the turn and kept fighting on in the straight for a sound third, beaten one length.
