First-up specialist Isaurian looks primed for another fresh win when he resumes on a big day of racing at Doomben on Saturday.
The Godolphin four-year-old lines up against some quality sprinters in a strong renewal of the Listed IPG Marketing Chief De Beers over 1110m.
Isaurian flies fresh winning all three of his previous resuming runs and looks wound up to fire again after two good trials in Sydney.
The stallion was racing well last campaign where he scored wins at Rosehill and Sandown and closed off his preparation with back-to-back stakes placings including a third in the Falvelon Quality at this course and distance.
The 1110m suits first up as he has won two of four attempts at the trip and he gets the services of James McDonald who should be able to secure a good run in transit from gate four.
A return to firmer footing could see some form reversals among those horses that raced at the Gold Coast a fortnight ago and one of those could be Tunero in the Australian Racing Hall Of Fame Benchmark 75 over 2000m.
The Chris Waller-trained gelding was a beaten favourite when midfield at the Coast but didn’t handle the very heavy conditions.
He had made an encouraging return before that when closing for third at Eagle Farm and should appreciate the step up in distance.
He is a previous third-up winner so can be expected to be near peak fitness and McDonald sticks with him after the run at the Coast.
He offers good each way value and looks worth another chance.
