Progressive sprinter Capital Connection looks well placed for a second-up win at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
The Tony Gollan-trained five-year-old lines up in race five on the program, the Paddyfest 2019 Handicap over 1000m.
Capital Connection is building a consistent record and comes here off a fast-finishing third to the speedy Meet Mr Taylor at this course and distance three weeks back.
That was his first run for over four months and it should have improved him having placed at both previous second up attempts.
Capital Connection’s best results have come over a little further but he has been kept fresh for this and there looks to be good speed engaged, which should allow him to finish off strongly.
Jockey Jeff Lloyd sticks with him and looks to secure a good run in transit from the low draw.
Lloyd looks a big chance of a winning double with the talented Deep Image going around at each way odds in race seven, the TAB Class 6 Plate over 1600m.
Deep Image was a class above his rivals when scoring first up over 1400m at Sunshine Coast as a hot favourite.
He steps straight up to the mile but does some of his best work second up having won two of three previous attempts.
Deep Image is a go-forward type so should be able to take full advantage of the draw on the fence.
The race doesn’t appear to have a lot of early speed which could allow Lloyd to dictate. If that is the case he could take some running down.
