Sydney Specials: Rosehill – Jan 19

We get the opportunity to build a bank early in the program at Rosehill on Saturday.

Getting better than even about Ljungberg is something we should capitalise on as the Ron Quinton-trained three-year-old contests the Doug Carroll Benchmark 72 Handicap (1300m).

After looking sharp during trials in readiness, Ljungberg has commenced his prep with two wins from as many starts.

The latest in particular turned heads when winning a Benchmark 72 3YO Handicap (1300m) over this trip on the Kensington a fortnight ago.

It was a clinical success where he put almost four lengths on his nearest rival.

He should be fitter again third run from a spell and continue his progression through the grades.

While the race title suggests Ljungberg is taking on the older horses for the first time, only one four-year-old contests the second event at Rosehill on Saturday, the Chris Waller-trained High Low Bet.

Ron Quinton has placed his promising three-year-old ideally and connections are expected to reap the benefits.

Pipeline appeals at odds in Race 6, the Benchmark 78 Roger Hawke Handicap (1350m).

The son of Redoute’s Choice is an interesting runner.

Pipeline returned from a generous break with a fifth at Randwick behind the talented Deprive.

Slow into stride, the five-year-old settled back and was doing his best work late.

He would have been in dire need of that outing and finds a race in which he can build upon the display.

It’s also worth noting connections elected to geld the well bred type during his absence from racing.

McEvoy jumping aboard can be considered another positive lead.

In an open sort of contest, Pipeline is worth a look at his double figure quote.
