Back to Eagle Farm where one of Queensland’s leading juveniles of last season looks well-placed to make a return to the winner’s circle.
Mishani Hustler enjoys a notable drop in grade when he lines up in the Hamilton Reach Handicap, an open grade race for three-year-olds over 1200m.
That was his first outing for over seven months so he should have benefited from the hitout and he will appreciate taking on his own age group.
Mishani Hustler showed terrific ability as a juvenile winning four of six races including the Listed Dalrello Stakes along with a second to smart colt Zousain in the Group 2 Moet and Chandon Classic. He has earned his hefty 61kg impost but the 3kg claim of Baylee Nothdurft will be an asset and he should get a charmed run from the inside gate.
Progressive gelding Boom Chicka Boom could give backers a sight at each way odds in the Silks Ascot Class 3 Plate over 1000m
The lightly-raced four-year-old is a former Victorian but has done a good job in two Queensland runs since joining Les Kelly.Boom Chicka Boom showed good speed first up when leading throughout to win at Gold Coast then was valiant when attempting a repeat last time, only gunned down in the final stages but the talented Acqume.
Both of those races were over 900m but the five furlongs holds no fears as he is proven at the trip and should be ready to run it out strongly third up.He is well drawn so jockey Michael Cahill should be able to get the gelding into the right position and he could prove hard to get past in the straight.
