We return to Flemington for a typically terrific off season card at headquarters. There's been rain around but Flemington copes better than anywhere.
The betting should be terrific on a fairly deep card and our best comes up early on the card in the second race which is a hot contest over 1410m for three-year-olds headed by Social Spin.
Social Spin was good first up but just bumped into a winner there that produced a big performance on the day. Now second up he gets to a more suitable trip and is well suited by the recent rain taking the edge of the track.
He produced a fairly smart performance under similar conditions last time in work and his fresh run was good enough to think that he can go on with his promise this campaign.
For an each way play we are looking at another second up runner, this time in the sixth race on the card with Ryan's Fender.
Ryan's Fender went to Ballarat first up and found himself in a high pressure race there. His effort to stick on as well as he did under that pace scenario first up at 1600m was very credible and three weeks on he finds a terrific option up slightly in trip at Flemington.
At around $9.00 we are more than happy to play him each way.
