The Melbourne Mail - November 24

It's The Melbourne Mail's Ballarat edition and this year's Ballarat Cup meetings looks a good one with a good mix of betting races through the card.

Our bet of the day comes up in the three-year-old feature, the Eureka Stockade over 1400m, where the early favourite Enbihaar stands out as the horse to beat.

She had her first crack at 1400m at Flemington last time and produced a career best up in trip in a race that returned a very solid overall figure.

The winner, Ringerdingding, has gone on and won the Sandown Guineas, advertising the value of the form, and while we aren't suggesting that she is as good as that one, what we are suggesting is that she doesn't need to be to take care of what is put up against her on Saturday.

The key rival according to the market is Winning Partner who won his maiden nicely on Bendigo Cup Day. He was good there with the promise that he would really hit his straps up to 1400m where he ran his best race to date last term.

Our each way play on the card ran on the same Bendigo card and over the same trip, posting a rating head and shoulders above Winning Partner.

As It Lies was bolted around Bendigo, posting a sharp time and landing a few good bets. He looked to race a touch flat at Flemington on the back of that but was hardly disgraced in a deep handicap.

He faces a good horse in Platinum Angel on Saturday but at 1100m, and with her drawn out, we are thinking that he is going to have a good headstart on her getting to the corner and if he is ready to bounce back to that first up peak then she is going to need to be right on her game to gun him down.

THE MELBOURNE MAIL

Bet Of The Day: Race 5 #1 Enbihaar @ $2.30

Each Way Play: Race 9 #6 As It Lies @ $8.00
