Sun General has been knocking on the door this campaign and looks hard to beat when he lines up in the Class 4 Non Premier (1800m) on the Polytrack at Kranji tonight.
The Lee Freedman-trained runner has finished third in both outings this preparation and has trialled over 1000m since his most recent effort behind Lim’s Revent in a Class 4 Premier.
Despite only having the one win to his name from nine starts, Sun General has placed on four further occasions and if he runs up to his recent efforts will prove very hard to beat.
The four-year-old gelding should appreciate the step up to the 1800m today and with Michael Rodd on board from a handy draw he can certainly get the job done today against these.
Matsuribayashi followed up some good form with a win over 1700m on the Polytrack two starts back.
Could only manage a midfield finish on the turf over 2000m last start but getting back on the Polytrack today where all three previous wins have come and dropping to 1800m he profiles well for this.
Would expect the four-year-old gelding to settle around midfield or even a touch worse from barrier six, but he will be getting to the line strongly and must be respected off his win two starts back.
Chief Clerk is another who comes into consideration third up now off some decent form and ready to fire.
Resuming with a fourth placing, the Shane Baertschiger-trained runner then finished midfield over this C/D and has trialled since that effort in preparation for today.
Not the best career record with just one win from 11 starts but his two runs in Singapore have indicated he is capable of being competitive in races like this.
Chief Clerk was slightly disappointing when a beaten favourite last time out but has drawn nicely in barrier 4 and expect him to be in the mix.
Brilliant One followed up a third placing with a last start win and now that he has found some form he could make his way into the finish against these.
Good luck!
