Freedman Runner To Relish Drop In Grade

Tesoro Privado will relish the drop in grade when he lines up in the Class 3 over 1400m at Kranji on Friday.

The Lee Freedman-trained runner has been freshened up since running fourth to Mr Clint in the Group 1 Singapore Guineas (1600m) last start and was third in a recent barrier trial over 1000m at Kranji.

Prior to his last start effort he was fourth in the Group 2 Thr Classic over this C/D only beaten just over a length on the back of a Class 3 win over Lim’s Dashing and this does not appear any tougher today.

Possessing a very impressive career record, Michael Rodd goes on board for the first time and from barrier 7 would expect him to push forward and put himself in the race.

Tesoro Privado rates very well against his rivals today on his last couple of runs and despite coming up against the older horses today you would expect him to be very hard to beat back to the 1400m in a Class 3.

Star Empire shapes up as the main danger on the back of some good recent form for Leticia Dragon.

The former Australian galloper has had just the two runs in Singapore to date, winning a Class 4 Premier over 1200m first up before running third to Arc Triumph in a Class 3 last start.

The son of Not A Single Doubt goes back on the turf for the first time in his Singapore career and there is a bit to like about his form in Australia as well.

Star Empire won over the 1400m in Australia so the step up in trip should not pose any troubles for the three-year-old and from barrier 2 he should get a nice run throughout.

Third up now off a lengthy spell he will be much fitter for the two runs and you would expect him to be right in the finish.

Southern Spur will be looking to build on his last start win in a Class 3 over this C/D following a narrow second to Robin Hood.

His last couple of efforts certainly bring him into this and drawn nicely in barrier 3 with Vlad Duric back on board you would expect him to be prominent in the run.

Southern Spur certainly looks a much better horse on the turf and with the likely run he will get in this field he has certainly shown enough in recent times to suggest he will be prominent.

Justice Glory rounds out the main chances despite mixing his form this campaign.

Since coming to Singapore from Australia he won a Class 3 first up before a disappointing effort when in the markets behind Mr Hanks last start but you would expect him to appreciate the step up to 1400m third up.

Good luck!
