Gold City To Continue Rise At Kranji

The lightly raced Gold City can make yet another step in her short career when she lines up in the Kranji Stakes C (1800m) in Singapore on Sunday.

With only eight career outings to her name, the four-year-old mare comes off a terrific win in a Class 4 Non Premier (1800m) last start and remaining over the same trip today is likely to improve again.

The Cliff Brown-trained runner has been ultra consistent in her short career and prior to her win last start had been building nicely with three close placings.

Despite jockey Michael Rodd jumping off to ride the stablemate Magnificent Gold, Vlad Duric goes on board for the first time and from the handy draw in a small field should settle just off the leaders

Gold City is certainly one of the more progressive runners in the race and she appears to have really relished going up to the 1800m last start.

This is no doubt tougher to what she has been taking on and her first stakes race but she measures up very well to her rivals on what she has produced in recent times and can go on with it now.

The stablemate Magnificent Gold shapes up as the main danger on the back of a good run for fifth in a Class 3 over the mile earlier in the month.

The four-year-old gelding steps up to the 1800m for the first time since coming to Singapore having run over 2046m in Australia last year.

Magnificent Gold has had the four starts since arriving in Singapore all at Class 3 level and despite not having placed in all four he has been competitive enough on all occasions.

As mentioned previously Michael Rodd does jump off Gold City to ride this galloper however looking at the current form of both runners Gold City looks the most progressive and is also coming off a win and placings.

Arhat brings some mixed form with him however drops back in class today and was not too far away when third in a Kranji Stakes C over 1700m two back behind Target.

Unable to measure up in a Stakes A over 1600m last start however will certainly relish the drop back to easier company and could be there at the finish despite the awkward draw.

Chocolats rounds out the main chances having been fairly consistent in recent times without winning races.

The four-year-old gelding has managed just the one win in his 13 starts but has placed on a further seven occasions and recent form in Class 3 and Stakes C company reads well enough to suggest he can be competitive today.

Good luck!
