Black Quail Ready To Peak At Kranji

Black Quail looks well placed to return to the winners circle when he lines up in the Mexican Rose 2010 Stakes Class 4 Premier (1200m) at Kranji on Sunday

The Mark Walker-trained runner was sent out the favourite when resuming in a Class 4 Non Premier last start (1200m) running a disappointing third to Typhoon.

Black Quail may well have needed the run on that occasion and fitter again today on the back of that effort looks very well suited in this field.

Lightly raced for a four-year-old, the son of Coats Choice produced some solid form last campaign, scoring a win in an Initiation prior to a spell.

Ran well when second up last campaign and an improving type who rates well against his rivals today shapes up as the one they have to beat.

Ferocious comes out of the same race last start when runner up, beaten a length and he certainly comes into consideration off that effort. Has since finished fourth in a recent barrier trial and will be primed for this.

When third up last campaign Ferocious finished third to Mr Hanks in the Juvenile Championship (1400m) and has shown enough to this point to suggest he will be very competitive in this.

Like Black Quail, the Ky Young-trained runner steps out a much fitter horse today and if he can jump fairly from the inside draw will be right around the mark again.

Eastiger comes into the race full of confidence following a last start win in a Restricted Maiden over this trip.

The Lee Freedman-trained runner led all the way to win by two lengths on that occasion and would expect the three-year-old to push forward again and settle on the speed.

Glenn Boss goes on board for the first time and if he can run up to his last start effort he will be competitive once again.

Montaigne rounds out the main chances on the back of a second placing in a Class 4 Premier and rates well on that effort.

Has been a while between wins now but won’t find this any tougher to what he raced against last start and with some luck from the wide draw.
