Sydney Specials: Rosehill – November 18

The best bet of the program at Rosehill on Saturday will allow punters to go one out in the first leg of the quadrella.

That best bet comes in the form of Interlocuter who contests the November Topaz Open Handicap (1900m).

Saturday will mark the third time Interlocuter has been the Sydney Specials’ Best Bet this campaign after getting the job done for us both second at third up.

The son of Medaglia D’Oro profiles as a stakes horse in the making and is expected to take another step toward that goal in Race 6 at Rosehill on Saturday.

James Cummings has done an excellent job in allowing Interlocuter to gradually work through his grades in Sydney this spring despite the temptation of sending the French import south to Melbourne.

Interlocuter has improved with each run this campaign and now takes on a number of the same rivals he accounted for last start.

Black On Gold got to within three lengths of Interlocuter at Randwick three weeks ago and has since come out and won at this course on November 4.

Courtesy of that win, Black On Gold now meets Interlocuter 2.5kg worse at the weights from when they last clashed.

Most in this field are exposed middle distance types who Interlocuter has so far had the measure of.

He should offer up a repeat serve and record a third straight win.

Earlier in the program, Savvan has a sense of timing about her third up in the Chandon S Benchmark 80 Handicap (1400m) for fillies and mares.

The mare has performed well in each of her two runs this campaign, her first for trainer John O’Shea.

She was making good late ground first up in what has since proven to be a strong form race and was only narrowly beaten last start as favourite at Randwick behind Drachenfels.

Savvan now steps out to 1400m third up and returns to fillies and mares grade.

The perceived main chances in Slow Burn (distance) and Sedanzer (fitness) have queries surrounding them so it shapes as a race early in the card where searching for value could be the play.

A $7.50, Savvan is a definite option.
