Sydney Specials: Rosehill – July 29

Some solid form lines appear set to come to the fore at Rosehill on Saturday.

The nine race program features a number of open betting races, particularly late in the card.

Pick Me Up shapes as one of the stronger favourites through the course of the day contesting the ATC Thanks Our Owners Benchmark 85 Handicap (1350m).

The Tim Martin-trained gelding was dropped back in trip last start and thrived, winning a 1200m Benchmark 75 Handicap here a fortnight ago.

Form out of the race has since been franked through the runner up Mana who won at Canterbury on Wednesday.

Pick Me Up’s efforts around Invincible Knight earlier this campaign also read well.

The son of Encosta De Lago generally produces his best on good tracks and gets an uncharacteristically firm one for this time of year in Sydney on Saturday.

The second last event of the day lacks early speed so from an awkward barrier, Adam Hyeronimus may elect to work forward and settle prominent on a slow tempo.

Parker's Piece

Earlier in the program, Parker’s Piece shapes as a strong each way play contesting the ATC Owner Benefits Card Benchmark 72 Handicap (1100m).

The former New Zealand mare makes her Australian debut in what looks a most winnable assignment.

Parker’s Piece has shown good promise through her 16 start career to date and arrives in Australia after a solid mid season campaign.

While the daughter of Northern Meteor didn’t win, form around her reads strong from her last three NZ runs.

Now under the care of Kris Lees, Parker’s Piece was beaten just over a length three runs ago behind subsequent dual Group 1 winner Savile Row.

Two back, Parker’s Piece ran second to subsequent Group placegetter Honey Rider and in her final NZ run, she finished a half length third to the progressive Killarney.

Lees has given her two trials in readiness and being proven first up, she appeals at her current quote contesting a race which as a whole looks thin on depth.
