Best From The West - June 10

Talented filly Dainty Tess lines up against the older horses on Saturday, but appears well placed to go back-to-back in the third event at Belmont.

A distinct model of consistency, Dainty Tess has placed in 19 of her 22 starts and comes into Saturday's event off the back of an impressive victory at Ascot.

Generally a noted front-runner, Dainty Tess was ridden back off the speed last start and it proved a master stroke, when sweeping home down the outside to win easily.

Marked up to her career peak, the daughter of War Chant is clearly racing in great order and gets her chance to beat the older horses on Saturday.

Apprentice rider Kate Witten sticks aboard and Dainty Tess should receive all the favours from the inside draw.

Dainty Tess has placed in six of seven attempts at Belmont and has placed in 13 of 14 attempts over this trip.

As much as $4.80 is being offered about her chances early doors, which appears a more than worthy gamble.

If able to repeat the level of her last start performance, she is sure to make her presence felt.

In the fourth event, the Trevor Andrews trained Gangbuster appears well placed to make a winning return when due to contest the fourth event.

Having performed well against some of WA's top 3YOs last preparation, Gangbuster will certainly appreciate the drop back in grade and notably gets the blinkers back on.

Gangbuster has trialled well in the lead up and possesses a solid record at this course and distance.

Leading apprentice Clint Johnston-Porter legs aboard for the first time and should prove very hard to hold out late.

Each way odds is currently on offer about his chances, which we are more than happy to take.
