Best From The West - May 20

Star sprinter Rock Magic returns to the West on Saturday and appears poised to clinch the Group 3 Roma Cup at Ascot.

A winner of 12 of his 37 starts, Rock Magic has been a revelation since joining the Chris Gangemi stable back in July 2014.

Previously trained by Paul Messara, Rock Magic displayed decent ability but has clearly gone to another level for his new stable.

In 24 starts in WA, Rock Magic has won eight and has placed on a further nine occasions.

Rock Magic finished third in the Winterbottom at the back end of his last preparation, before returning with a game performance in the William Reid stakes, finishing fourth.

Prepared to pet a pen through his performance in the TJ Smith Stakes, as he simply didn't handle the track.

Under the weight-for-age conditions, Rock Magic is very well placed and looks to set a decent standard with Noske aboard.

We have him marked the clear favourite and more than happy to take the 4-1 on offer.

In the fifth effort the Paul Jordan trained Senso appears set to peak racing fourth up and should prove very hard to beat.

Rock solid in three starts to begin this preparation, Senso is sure to relish the step up in trip and has drawn to receive all the favours.

Admittedly hasn't won in over a year (378 days), however this race sets up beautifully and he is sure to make his presence felt.
