The Melbourne Mail - May 6

Flemington hosts a fairly nondescript meeting this Saturday but the winners pay the same and there are some appealing betting opportunities on the card.

The depth of the Darren Weir stable has been on show at Warrnambool this week and the caravan can roll on into this weekend with Zasorceress the pick of their chances at Flemington.

A return to 2000m, mares company, and perhaps most importantly firmer footing, can see Zasorceress back at her best and that leaves her a fairly likely winner against a modest looking set of rivals.

Both the market and Timeform ratings throw up Hot Ruby as the biggest stumbling block for Zasorceress, and Hot Ruby did manage to beat the favourite at Caulfield back in the summer, but she has been just below that form since while Zasorceress has proven herself better than the result that day in a handful of runs since.

Zasorceress is currently trading around the $2.50 mark - a price that should hold up. TopBetta's new Global Tote could be the place to play with a best tote guarantee on top of the Global Tote price making for a seriously competitive product.

In the seventh Widgee Turf comes up favourite and he may well prove the best talent in the race. He's backing up just seven days on from his return run, though, and there looks to be value away from him in the betting with our focus being on Soho Ruby who chased a handy one home at Flemington on Anzac Day and looks well set up on the back of that run.

She comes off a fast race and the form should hold up. Widgee Turf has ability but he is certainly a beatable horse.
