A cracking eight race card is set to take place at Ascot on Saturday with the return of star mare Delicacy the key highlight.

A revelation during her 3YO campaign the daughter of Al Maher brought up six straight wins when taking out the Group 1 S.A. Derby and went to the paddock rated 113 by Timeform.

A promising type early doors, Delicacy clearly exploded when tried beyond the mile and stamped herself a promising stayer of the future.

Whether she can replicate that level of form short of the mile remains to be seen and while not denying her talent, she is clearly vulnerable first up on Saturday.

In 14 starts she has only been tried over 1200m once and while victorious, this is clearly another level.

Under the weight for age conditions she meets star mare Magnifisio on level terms and hence it remains advantage the latter.

Though unable to fire in her trip to South Australia, Magnifisio's record in WA is second to none.

She has placed four of seven first up and has placed in 11 of 13 attempts at this track.

In 14 attempts over this distance range, Magnifisio has placed in 11 and has notably drawn to receive all the favours.

Currently installed a 2-1 chance, she appears a more than worthy gamble as we have her marked the even money favourite.

Have to respect her stablemate Dawn Approach, though do expect Magnifisio to be too strong late.

The final event sees the Adam Durrant trained Illuminated step up to 1800m.

A dominant winner over the mile last start, he is clearly heading in the right direction and although drawn out he still should be too good.

Using Timeform weight adjusted ratings he possesses a distinct edge over his rivals and will no doubt give them all something to chase.

With even money currently being offered about his chances, he appears a more than worthy gamble.

If priced aggressively we have marked closer to a $1.60 chance and view it as a great bet to finish off the day's proceedings.

None riding better than the Wizard at present and trust in him to get Illuminated home.
