Brisbane Best - August 8

Glenbawn Dame has been racing in good form of late and will take plenty of beating when lining up at Doomben on Saturday.

The Toby Edmonds stable has been in terrific form recently and Glenbawn Dame (Race 3 #3) comes into the race having finished runner up in her last two outings.

Going forward from the inside draw to lead at Sunshine Coast last start, the five-year-old mare was beaten by the barest of margins having battled on well for second voer the 1000m trip two back.

Glenbawn Dame returns to Doomben where she has placed in 2/3 her last outing at the course when running well for second in Listed company behind Dublin Lass.

If she can run up to that effort once again she will be hard to beat here and Jeff Lloyd who rode on that occasion goes back on board.

Only taking on a small field today, the five-year-old mare looks pretty well placed and from the wide barrier would expect her to go forward and take plenty of running down.

Kalandula and Jimmy Says Yes look the main dangers but if Glenbawn Dame has pulled up okay after her last start effort she will certainly be very hard to hold out.

Later in the day Cum Dividend (Race 7 #2) will look to build on a last start win after leading all the way over this C/D last time out.

Form was mixed prior to that but he was far from disgraced in listed company and he generally takes a few runs to find his form.

Possesses a very good record at the course and over the trip and if he runs up to what he produced last start he will be hard to hold out again.

Currently at $8 looks a good each way bet and winning jockey Bridget Grylls stays on board and claims a much needed 1.5kg.

From barrier 8 would expect him to not be far away in the run with the main dangers Steel Zip and Choice Bro.

The Liam Birchley stable must be respected and now that Cum Dividend has found some form he can certainly go on with it here.

Good Luck!!

BRISBANE BEST.
