The Melbourne Mail - July 4

Punters immigrating to Caulfield this fourth of July should ensure that, first and foremost, they collect their Green Card.

There's an element of the unknown when betting on two-year-old races - particularly when they feature a host of first-starters - but those who can ignore the whispers of the huddled masses will quickly realise that they can provide a land of opportunity.

The divide between rich and poor can be vast in two-year-old races, with the unexposed fast ones given the chance to work their way up the class ladder. Capitalism at its finest, with the odds heavily stacked against the slowest.

After winning in the Primaries first up at Bendigo, Green Card, a true All American, looks destined to rise through the ranks, and we are keen to make a campaign donation this Saturday.

He won his race in fine style at Bendigo, running the fastest of four 1100's on the day at Bendigo, which returned a Timeform rating of 87p - a 'p' expected to be put to good use this weekend when a figure in the mid-nineties look attainable.

The first-starters have the opportunity to reach that level, but they will surely have to work hard to get here, and they will do so with no safety nets.

All that early work can be put towards a legacy, albeit in most cases a tiny one.

Tiny's Legacy is probably never going to make the big dollars at the top end of town but he's working well and making his way up the ladder one step at a time.

He peaked with a good win at Sale and improved again slightly when close up at Flemington last time.

Things are no tougher for him here and at $10.00 he looks to represent a decent investment opportunity (there's that word again) in one trending upwards.
