The Melbourne Mail - May 10

It’s off to Flemington this weekend for a typically deep and competitive card of off-season handicaps.

The most likely winner on the card, at least in our view, is the Peter Moody trained mare Miss Outshine who had no luck last week and now goes to a race that looks ideal for her.

Her best form last campaign came when stepped up to this trip and a return to those figures, which looks very much on the cards after last week, would see her prove too good for these.

Not only is she the best performed but she is seen as the mare with most scope for improvement, making her very much the type to “bank on” at the $3 here.

General Peekay made a pleasing return to racing over in Adelaide last time and while he finds a race with plenty of depth he looks a decent gamble at early odds.

Some question mark on him staying at 1100m today but he is sure to be fitter for the first run in the best part of a year and he has set the platform for another good campaign with that Adelaide return.

Kingdom Of Dreams steps out earlier on the card in a very competitive three-year-old handicap and here the early market looks to over-value his chance.

He has winning form in the book but he wasn’t seen to have taken any great step forward last time and has more to find to be winning here against better performed horses.

It’s an ask to find what is required just eight days on from the Bendigo win and while he has to be respected he shouldn’t be sitting at the top of the market come Saturday.
