HAWKESBURY SATURDAY
RACE 2 (8) MR LEBROCK: Expecting this well bred youngster by More Than Ready to have taken plenty of benefit from the experience of his first start at Canterbury when he raced greenly and got himself into bother several times but still closed gamely for a luckless fifth behind Idyllic Scenery, who he meets again on 2.5kg better terms. He had shown excellent ability in two trials prior to his debut and will count on him to race more tractably from his favorable inside gate.
RACE 3 (10) CUSHY NUMBER: Joe Pride may have found the key to this lightly raced gelding as he looked a much improved horse coming off two trials to score easily under 57.5lg over 1400m on the Kensington track on April 16 when he had a barrier blanket applied at the start. Raced kindly on the pace for his second win in only six starts and while he faces tougher rivals he should prove hard to run down dropping to the limit weight of 54kg.
RACE 6 (4) LEEBAZ: Certain to start a firm favourite to give James McDonald and the Hawkes stable another feature win and take his record to six wins from his first nine starts. Brings excellent form lines to this race, having beaten subsequent Albury Cup winner Canny Ballad in successive wins at Randwick and Warwick Farm before stretching the classy Weary when a game second in heavy ground in the G3 Doncaster Prelude at Rosehill. That stood up as very strong form race over the carnival and he could not be better placed dropping 1kg to the limit as he should dictate the pace on a track where he is a previous winner.
