RANDWICK SATURDAY

RACE 2 (3) KNOYDART: Must be hard to beat if he holds the form he was producing in Melbourne against Lankan Rupee when an unlucky placegetter in both the G1 Oakleigh Plate and G1 Newmarket Handicap when he was twice blocked for a clear run. Edges up in the weights for those performances but he has gone to a new level this preparation and these conditions are favourable as he is carrying only 1.5kg over the limit. Kept up to the mark with a soft Rosehill trial on April 15 and backs it up with an outstanding 1200m record of missing a place only once in eight starts at the trip.

RACE 5 (3) BACHMAN: Emerging talent who made it two wins from his first four starts when he powered to the line in last 200m to beat Scratch Me Lucky and Veuvelicious in the G3 Baillieu (1400m) on April 5, form that was franked by their efforts last Saturday in the G1 Sires’ Produce Stakes and G3 Fernhill. Should have no concern with the extra 200m and appeals strongly in this even field as the one open to the most natural improvement.

RACE 7 (6) NORTHERN GLORY: Has had nothing work out for her in two carnival runs after excellent trial wins due to unfavourable barriers. Inside gate on a heavy track at Rosehill did her no favours when third to Sidestep in the Darby Munro then never closer than five deep from gate 17 but still found the line when an excellent fourth in the PJ Bell. Last effort showed she is looking for 1400m and expect the rails gate on a drying track with the rail out 9m to see her enjoy a favourable on pace passage.
