Lankan Rupee returns at Caulfield looking to stamp himself as a leading contender in the autumn’s big sprinting handicaps.
Minus two distracting assets Lankan Rupee started to deliver on the promise he showed early in his career in the spring, his campaign culminating in a dominant Caulfield win where he beat 10 stakes-winning sprinters on his ear.
That form sets the standard here and while the race is a good one, with the likes of Better Than Ready and Lion Of Belfort both capable in this company, Lankan Rupee is seen as a better chance than early markets would suggest.
Moment Of Change is the lone horse (bar perhaps Eurozone) in the Orr Stakes field with high-class form at the 1400m trip.
Despite that he looks one to avoid at the early quote with 496 days/10 runs having passed since his most recent win, which was, coincidentally, over the Caulfield 1400m.
He had his chance last time in the Australia Stakes where he had obvious form claims but was unable to capitalise and it would take a very forgiving punter to be diving in shy of 2/1 about him now.
The last sees another with obvious form claims, Arisnosa, at the top of markets but it may pay to look beyond her with value appearing in the form of A Time For Julia around the $9 mark.
Of the top 6-8 in the market she is the one with upside and that makes her one to keep onside in the lucky last.
