Saturday’s Rosehill meeting appears to possess a number of solid value plays including the Peter Snowden-trained Emblems in the last and Longshoreman.

Emblems produced a career best performance last start when making all at Randwick in a similar contest to this.

His performance was awarded a Timeform figure of 98 and third run from a spell will look to build upon that effort in the Rosehill Gardens Handicap (1200m).

Emblems lines up in a handy field which includes the consistent duo of Skip Town and Mount Nebo as well as stablemate Suit.

While his opposition is useful, Emblems’ last start performance means he possesses the highest 50 day weight adjusted figure, albeit marginally.

This augers well for his chances on Saturday along with the fact Emblems should be able to improve with added fitness third run back from a spell.

Emblems from the wide alley will roll forward and should be prominent on settling, either setting the tempo or settling near the speed.

On straightening he should prove very hard to gun down on his way to a second straight win.

Stablemate Imperil is currently favourite for the Calm Aluminium Handicap however appears set to face stiff opposition in the form of Tony McEvoy-trained Longshoreman.

Near each way odds are available about Longshoreman in a race which appears short on depth.

Longshoreman comes into the event out of a race anything but lacking in depth where he caught the eye late behind Terravista at Randwick on November 23.

That form has since stood up with Terravista running second a week later in the Festival Stakes behind White Sage.

Additionally, runner up King Cobia came out and won at the track last week while third placegetter Babel ran second in her latest outing behind the talented Messene.

It now appears to be Longshoreman’s turn to frank the form after running fourth in the event.

Longshoreman possesses useful third up credentials and the way the five-year-old was attacking the line suggests he is crying out for this distance.

Nash Rawiller taking the reigns is also a huge boost to his chances and $4.80 about the Longhorn gelding is appealing.

Short priced favourites are non existent at Rosehill on Saturday so the lay of the day unfortunately has to be something which as of Friday morning is pushing each way odds.

The TAB Rewards 3YO Fillies Benchmark 74 Handicap (1400m) is an open sort of race early in the day.

Made To Order is currently favourite for the event at $4.00 yet on weight adjusted 50 day Timeform figures, sits some way down the pecking order.

The filly has enjoyed a most encouraging maiden preparation with her first career victory resulting in trainer Chris Waller labelling the daughter of Commands as a potential Oaks hope for the stable.

She has performed soundly in two runs since that effort with the latest a minor placing at Randwick behind Sinjoren.

On looking at the eight horse field, winning claims can be made for a number of runners in the event.

Bring a Ring’s Sydney debut at this track three weeks ago was top shelf while Mamwaazel was too good at Warwick Farm last start.

Group placed filly Global Dream travels south after a sound first up run amongst stakes company while the Gai Waterhouse-trained Mardi was a nice debut winner at Canterbury.

Even lesser hopes such as Il Mio Destino and A Saucy Snitzel have run the figures required so far this campaign to be value players here.

Made To Order is one of the least experienced runners in this field and many of her rivals have the benefit of a previous race campaigns under their belts.

The Chris Waller-trained filly has done well during her maiden campaign but will have to lift again if she is to be winning here.

Others in the TAB Rewards Benchmark 74 Handicap appear to bring more upside into the contest earlier in their preparations and for that reason, Made To Order appears worth risking, or if she is too long to lay for your liking, avoiding altogether.
