The enigma that is Edgewood steps out once again in a race that shapes as the highlight on this Saturday’s Flemington card with the third race playing host to a handful of promising gallopers.
Edgewood has been flagged up as a talent for some time now but his barrier manners has continued to cost him success.
A recent successful jump out saw him away cleanly, however, and a repeat of that today can see him take advantage of his current mark.
It’s no snack, with talented progressive types headed by Grand Slam Eagle lining up, but at current prices he can be saved on with Edgewood worth another roll of the dice at $6.
One that can prove a worth banker is the resuming Sari who takes on the progressive Stick Pin in race four.
Stick Pin has made good improvement with each of three starts to this point but he will need to take another step up if he is to match the form of Sari who showed herself a handy filly last campaign.
She was a winner first up last prep and her form that followed around stakes-winners General Peekay and [/n]Lonhspresso[/n] sets the standard here and on that evidence her price should be no longer than that of Stick Pin.
The lay is a follow up to one we took on a couple of weeks back in The Cleaner.
No doubting he is a tough and genuine customer but again he is going to have to be right at the top of his game giving weight all around here and at the current quote, $5.00, looks under the odds.
Happy to take him on at that price in a race that looks wide open.
