This year, race goers can avoid the hustle and bustle of city life and crowded events by visiting one of five Country Racing events throughout Victoria on Caulfield Day, 15 October 2011.
The picturesque town of Avoca, will host the $15,000 PJA & Blue Pyrenees Avoca Cup (1860m), a highlight of the country season.
Last year's winner Escape Artist went back to back in Avoca after taking out the race in 2009. A Country Cup specialist, Escape Artist has competed in the Warrnambool, Mornington, Ballarat, Kyneton and Terang cups as well as winning the Stony Creek Cup in 2009. Punters will be excited to know that Escape Artist is back for a shot at history, this year he will be aiming to win his third Avoca Cup in as many years.
For the younger crowd, the Bendigo Beach Party Race day is the pick of the bunch with a $500 Netball Shootout, Loud Shirt competition, Live Music, Big Screen, BBQ & Mini marquee packages and a Bus service to and from Bendigo.
Latrobe Valleys racing meeting at Traralgon will host the Cargo Lounge Club's race day with a courtesy bus along with the $90 Club Zone offering free BBQ lunch as well as beer, wine and soft drink from 12.30pm-5.30pm.
Hamilton will hold its annual race day with marquees available from $26 per person. More of a family affair, there will be kid's activities and fashions on the field.
Lastly, Wodonga rounds out the country experience for Caulfield Cup Day by providing a family friendly Team on the Turf day from just $15 entry for adults and children under 15 free.
Country Racing Victoria CEO Scott Whiteman was thrilled with the pre-booked packages and great atmosphere surrounding the day.
“We have a number of clubs racing on Caulfield Cup day and we are expecting bumper crowds at all of our venues,” he said.
“What more can you say? It's just a great day out.”
