A Very Promising Godolphin Filly

Desert Flower lived up to the hype.

She had been impressive in her first two starts and continued that form into the May Hill Stakes which she won under William Buick by 1 ½ lengths from January with Flight the third home in the 9 race field.

The Park Hill was a slight upset when Nakheel 10/1 won for Burrows-Crowley by 1 ½ lengths to Night Sparkle and Grateful who had firmed into favourite before the start finished third.  Oxford Comma was more Oxford semi-colon and Mistral Star was a scratching.

Friday's card has the Flying Childers G2 over 1000m with 11 runners and the going expected to be good to soft.  It's fairly open with Big Mojo and Magnum Force on 5/2 but we like Aesterius on 4/1 for Watson-James Doyle and we will put in the stablemate Zayer as a roughie on 11/1 with Hollie Doyle riding.

The Betfred Howard Wright Doncaster Cup is a wonderful tribute to Howard.  The race is G2 over 3600m with 6 to run and seems to be set for a Gosden winner – either Sweet William 15/8 with Robert Havlin riding or Gregory whom we rather fancy on 3/1 with James Doyle riding.

Saturday is St Leger day and a very disappointing St leger field dominated bu the four O'Brien runners in a field of only 7.  The market has Illinois on top on 7/4, Jan Brueghel 7/2 and Grosvenor Square 5/1 with Hans Anderson in as a pacemaker.  We are going to reverse the order just for fun and put Grosvenor Square on top from Jan Brueghel and Illinois.

Earlier the Champagne Stakes for the 2yo c&g over 1400m has 6 runners topped by Chancellor, a Kingman colt with the Gosdens and Havlin riding on 7/4.  The other we like is Wolf of Badenoch 7/2, a Pinotubo with Hugo Palmer and Jamie Spencer riding – he's a c&d winner and on 7/2.

The Park Stakes G2 over 1400m should suit Kinross who is on 9/4 with Lead Artist attracting a following and the two of them are juggling for favouritism.  We have a couple of roughies here in Al Shabab Storm on 9/1 and Folgeria 20/1.
