Irish 2000 Guineas hero Rosallion has been ruled out of an intended return in the Prix du Moulin and the Richard Hannon-trained colt could remain on the sidelines for the rest of the season. Victorious in the Group 1 St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, the colt was due to rematch with 2000 Guineas winner Notable Speech at Glorious Goodwood, but was ruled out due to a respiratory infection. Whilst options on good ground may be limited at the end of the year, the exciting three-year-old is expected to stay in training next season.
City Of Troy could head Stateside for a tilt at the Breeders' Cup Classic following a run in either the Group 1 Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown or Group 1 Juddmonte International at York. In an interview with Sky Sports Racing, trainer Aidan O'Brien said: "The long-term plan is that he could go to America and they (owners) have the other horse for Saratoga in America for a race that City Of Troy was going to run in. He was a little bit green in Epsom and we just felt that maybe he wasn't ready for that (America) yet. The lads are thinking he'll go to Sandown and he'll go to either York (Juddmonte International) or Leopardstown (Irish Champion Stakes) after that and then he could head out to America for the Classic."
The 2025 fixture list was released by the British Horseracing Authority on Thursday, with Premier Fixtures expected to increase minimum prize money. The number of fixtures remains similar to the 2024 calendar and the amount of Sunday racing continues to rise significantly – although the decision to discontinue the Sunday evening trial remains in place. A significant change for the Flat jockeys will be an early-season break: eight days with no Flat racing scheduled after the November Handicap at Doncaster.
Haras d'Etreham have confirmed the purchase of a majority share in the stallion rights for Poule d'Essai des Poulains winner Metropolitan, who will join the stud at the end of his racing career. The son of Zarak will join an illustrious roster, including Almanzor, City of Light, Persian King and Hello Youmzain.
