German Oaks 2024 at Dusseldorf

Or to give it the correct title the 166th Henkel Preis der Diane.

16 3yo fillies will be competing for this coveted G1 title and there is a big challenge from the UK-Ireland raiders.

Heading these is Darnation, Karl Burke's Too Darn Hot filly, who is aiming to get the rare double of the German 1000 Guineas and the Oaks.  Adrie de Vries has the ride and they are on 3/1 in the UK markets.

Heading the local defence is Erle, a daughter of Reliable Man, trained by Maxim Pecheur and Martin Seidl has the ride.  She won the recent trial at Hoppegarten and comes in to this on 11/2.

Other raiders in contention are Lingua Franca, trained by the astute Sir Mark Prescott and she will have Luke Morris in the irons.  The daughter of Study of Man is owned and bred by Kirsten Rausing.  They are on 9/1 as is Je Zous, a daughter of Zoustar and therefore of great Aussie interest.  She's trained by Jospeh O'Brien who has booked Murzabayev for the ride.

Of interest also is the booking of Hong Kong jockey Vincent Ho for the Suborics trained Lady Mary.  Subi used to ride in Hong Kong so the two go back a long way.  Lady Mary was second to Erle in the Trial and comes into this on 16/1.
