Sydney Specials: Randwick – 25th June 2022

Hoping to get the money early at Randwick on Saturday in what is shaping as a fairly quiet weekend.

The Ryan and Alexiou trained Deficit is back in great order and looks well placed to go one better in the second event.

Returning as a gelding, Deficit had clear excuses first up at Warwick Farm before an eye catcher at Rosehill last start behind Niffler.

Ridden back from the wide draw, he made up good ground in the straight and clearly wasn't suited by the race shape.

Marked just shy of his peak, he should be right at his top third up and is expected to settle a touch closer from the draw.

The step up to the mile is another tick and with the aid of the Schiller's claim, he should prove very hard to hold out.

Didn't open favourite but that has been quickly corrected and with even luck he goes very close.

The Chris Waller trained Solar Apex wasn't given much chance last start and looks well set up in the seventh event.

An impressive winner fresh at Gosford, he didn't really handle the heavy track second up before clear excuses last start.

The much in-form Reece Jones legs aboard for the first time and is expected settle more prominently on Saturday.

The coffin looks to be up for grabs and while that can prove a tricky position, if able to extricate himself on straightening, he can work home over the top of them.

Have him marked the clear favourite and happy to bet up at his current quote.
