Jamie Kah booked for The Map's Adelaide Cup dream

10-time Group 1 winning jockey Jamie Kah is booked to ride talented South Australian stayer The Map in Monday week’s $350,000 Group 2 Adelaide Cup (3200m) at Morphettville.

Jamie Kah will reunite with the Dan Clarken and Oopy Macgillivray-trained mare for the first time since they combined for a dominant victory at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day.

"J.Kah is locked in,'' Clarken said.

"She's obviously been in the mix to ride her since Flemington and her management confirmed her for the ride this week,'' he said.

The Map produced an impressive return to racing winning the JRA Plate at Morphettville over 2000m before she was game in defeat running second behind Yellowbrick Road in last week's Group 3 Lord Reims Stakes (2600m).

Clarken said the mare had come through the run in great order.

"She's pulled up enormous,'' Clarken said.

"The plan was to always try and get the back of the McEvoy horse (Unusual Pearl) who had a big spruik on it, but she found herself a long way off them and a lot of horses in front of her.

"I thought her last 100m was solid and we always knew she was going to take a lot out of the second-up run,'' he said.

The Map is among early Adelaide Cup nominations that include last year's runner-up Aurora's Symphony who is expected to run favourite in search of a third successive Launceston Cup on Wednesday.

The Symon Wilde trained Aurora's Symphony won the 2022 Launceston Cup before running seventh behind Daqiansweet Junior in the Adelaide feature, repeating his Tasmanian effort last year before he was narrowly beaten by Rebel Racer in Adelaide.
