1-TAJ DYSON
A day apprentice Taj Dyson won't forget in a hurry. He had to share his first Saturday win after Safety Bay, trained by his grandfather, Fred Kersley, dead-heated with Gates Of Babylon, but soon after he hogged the limelight in his own right when Warm 'N' Fuzzy held on to win by a head from Via Monte. He gave both mounts every possible hope.
2-ROLAND PIERCEY
After a string of minor placings, Speed Dream, for hobby trainer, Roland Piercey, has found the winning formula, going back to back following his barnstorming effort in the Sky Racing.TV Provincial Championship Series Final (1400m). Coming from near last, the four-year-old gelding, a $4,500 buy from an online sale, posted his biggest financial win, after overcoming a wide draw.
3-ASHLEY MALEY
What a wonderful acquisition has Warm 'N' Fuzzy has been since linking up with Ashley Maley. Since September last year, the son of I'm All The Talk has not finished outside the first three with five wins and as many placings from 10 starts. Chasing the speed, he capped a big day for Taj Dyson and gave Maley the first leg of a double after Sluice Box, desperately unlucky last start, ran away from rivals to win by 2 ½ lengths.
4- SHAUN MCGRUDDY
Shaun Mcgruddy in top form with a treble: He shared the spoils with Taj Dyson after judges couldn't split Gates Of Babylon and Safety Bay, before he chimed in aboard the ultra-consistent Sluice Box and the highly promising three-year-old, Rokanori.
5-KRISTINA CLARKE
Fledging trainer Kristina Clarke, better known for her clerk of the course duties at Gloucester Park, had her first ever runners in town and although not in the winner's circle they ran out of their skins. She's Puzzling ran third after racing wide throughout and stable mate Ninetyone Dwyer was not far behind in fourth.
6-ROKANORI
An outstanding return from Rokanori who oozes class. He gave a small sample of his promise when last in work with wins in his opening three races before a fifth in the Melvista Stakes. An Awesome Rock colt, he staked his claim for the Raconteur Stakes (1500m) and Belmont Guineas (1600m), his feature three-year-old races for the winter.
7-SIMON MILLER
A mixed day for in-form trainer Simon Miller. He reached his 50th city win on the back of Above The Peg scoring a wining hat trick, but either side of that was disappointing. Odds on favourite Hardly Ever was plain at best when third behind Sniparoochy and the highly-rated three-year-old It'sarayday failed to live up to expectations when unplaced behind Rokanori, but there could have been excuses with a post-race veterinary examination revealing he was mildly lame in the off hind.
