Yankee Rose and Defcon, two of the star two-year-olds from last season, will contest barrier trials in Sydney and Queensland on Tuesday.
ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes winner Yankee Rose will barrier trial at the Sunshine Coast.
She will be ridden in Tuesday’s trial by Michael Cahill with Vandyke planning to give the filly a second trial before sending her to Sydney.
“She had about five weeks in the paddock and is holding her condition a bit better than she did previously,” Vandyke said.“We will trial her again in two weeks and after that make a decision where we start.
"The Golden Rose first-up is an option but The Run To The Rose could fit into a program if she is ready but we will let her show us that."My focus is the Flight Stakes. I want to get that Randwick mile she missed out on in the Champagne Stakes.
Black Opal Stakes winner Defcon will trial at Rosehill on Tuesday after he was withdrawn from a heat at Randwick last Friday. The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained colt will contest a 900m heat against the Golden Slipper runner Star Turn from the Hawkes stable.
