Trainer Gerald Ryan is excited to see what boom juvenile Regimental Force can produce on debut at Randwick on Saturday.
The well-bred colt turned heads with a 9.5 length romp in his only barrier trial at Rosehill last month.
Regimental Force is a son of Golden Slipper winner Sepoy and former dual Group 1 winning sprinter Regimental Gal.
She also won the Magic Millions Classic in 2003 and Regimental Force will get the chance to follow in her footsteps if he races as expected on Saturday.
“I think he goes really well, but how well we will find out on Saturday,” Ryan said.
“Prior to going to the races I rated him pretty highly.”
Ryan said he had been a big fan of Regimental Force when he saw him as a yearling both at the stud and the Magic Millions Sale but an x-ray issue had resulted in Cressfield Stud retaining the colt.
“He’s never had a problem and he’s got a great nature and a great attitude.
“He probably looks more like his mother than Sepoy,” Ryan said, adding that Regimental Force was an athletic horse that carried no extra weight.
Ryan said he was expecting Regimental Force to win his trial but was surprised by the margin.
“I’d never asked the horse to do it at home – that’s the most the horse has ever done.”
He said Regimental Force had not been pushed in his education so would be open to improvement on whatever he produces on Saturday.
