Lucky Nine Wins Krisflyer

Hong Kong charge Lucky Nine has claimed a brilliant win in the Krisflyer International Sprint at Kranji, finishing three lengths clear of Australian hopeful Bel Sprinter and local star Super Easy.

Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Brett Prebble settled just off the pace on Lucky Nine and stormed clear in the straight. Bel Sprinter peeled wide and finished powerfully enough to run past Super Easy, but copped a momentum-deflating check as he began winding up in the straight.

Hong Kong became the first country to claim three wins in the race with Lucky Nine following in the footsteps of North Boy (2002) and Green Birdie (2010).

More to come.
