Queensland jockey Brad Stewart has been suspended for two months on betting charges.

Stewart was banned after Racing Queensland stewards completed an Inquiry into a report received from Tattsbet regarding alleged betting activities by Stewart.

The report was made following a fixed price bet that was made on April 9 through an account in Stewart's name.

Evidence was taken from Stewart and trackwork rider William Hulbert. Stewards also considered information obtained from Tattsbet relating to this account for a period between July 1 of last year and April 9.

Stewart pleaded guilty to two charges including placing an internet bet on Alltherightmoves when it raced at Eagle Farm on April 9 in a betting account held in his own name.

The stewards also found that Stewart facilitated bets on racing generally for a period between July 1 2011 and April 7 2012 in a betting account held in his own name.

The stewards told Stewart his breaches were seriously as they have a detrimental effect on the image of racing and penalties must serve as a general deterrent to illustrate to that these activities will not be condoned.

A disqualification was considered however the stewards took into account Stewart's personal circumstances, his guilty plea and the upcoming feature races at the winter carnival.

They issued penalties of a suspension of his licence to ride in races for a period of one month in relation to the first charge and two months in relation to the second and ordered they be served concurrently to take effect at midnight on May 26 May and to expire at midnight July 26.
