Chris Scholtz - Early Thoughts
R&S Contributing Editor Chris Scholtz takes a look at tomorrow’s Sydney racing.
SELECTIONS
Rosehill Race 4 - 3 Blowing Kisses
The unbeaten Bon Amis looks sharp but is poor value for his first city start. I see this talented mare as a better gamble after her excellent first-up second at Warwick Farm when she finished fast late for a close second over 1000m under 58.5kg.
She’s down 2kg off that effort, is certain to strip fitter and the extra 100m should see her pose a big threat to the favourite.
Rosehill Race 6 - 8 Isla Tristana
Returns to Sydney seeking her second Highway win and arrives in the right form coming off an impressive win over 1350m at Ipswich when stepping up in distance at her third run since resuming.
She’s still on the up and is perfectly placed for her first start over 1400m dropping 3kg from her last start. Mark her down as another win for the king of the Highway races Matt Dunn.
Les Bridge is having a good run with his team and he’s made a smart move to utilise the claim of apprentice James Innes that will see this mare carry 2kg under the limit after she went down narrowly under 59.5kg when second up over 1200m at Warwick Farm.
The massive 8.5kg drop counters the rise in class and should see Innes instructed to make full use of her natural speed from the inside gate. Could be a steal if he lets her run under the light weight.
