Chris Scholtz - Early Thoughts

R&S Contributing Editor Chris Scholtz takes a look at tomorrow’s Sydney racing.

SELECTIONS

Randwick Race 4 - 5 Dal Cielo

Really hit his straps second up for his new trainer Kris Lees when he sprinted fast to easily win over 1000m at Warwick Farm.

Made his name with his classy Group form earlier in his career and the month between runs is a sure sign that Lees feels he is best kept fresh for these type of sprints.

Randwick Race 7 - 6 I Am Zelady

Returns to Sydney from the Magic Millions where she was a luckless second, beaten a nose by Private Secretary carrying 58.5kg after losing a plate in running.

It marked a strong return to form and these conditions suit with 4.5kg less. Confirmed that she has gone ahead since the run with an impressive trial win at Randwick last week.

Randwick Race 8 - 12 Imanui

Progressive 4YO has already won three of his seven starts including two at this trip and looks ready to add that record after two strong efforts since resuming.

Out of luck in the run when he charged late to just miss over 1400m at this course second-up and will be hard to hold out over this more favourable distance, especially if forecast showers take the edge of the track.

BLACKBOOK UPDATE from 28 January (Rosehill, Flemington & Caloundra)

Sweet Deal - Terrific effort from an inexperienced filly. Bright future.
