Chris Scholtz - Early Thoughts
R&S Contributing Editor Chris Scholtz takes a look at tomorrow’s Sydney racing.
SELECTIONS
Chris Waller import having third start in only his second Australian preparation and looks close to a win after two excellent efforts since resuming.
Found the line best against a similar field when fourth over this course and distance last time and while he will obviously be suited up to 2000m looks ready to play a big hand.
Rosehill Race 6 - 9 Better Not Blue
Really liked his return to form last start when finishing strongly for close second to Ninth Legion in the Civic Stakes at this course.
Has an edge in the weights with 54kg and should be ideally suited by these heavy conditions.
Could not have been more impressive resuming with a runaway win over 1100m at this course two weeks ago.
They passed on a trip to Grafton for the Ramornie Handicap to target this easier race and it should prove the right decision judging by the way he hit the line first-up. Signs are good that this could be his best preparation.
BLACKBOOK UPDATE from 9 July (Randwick & Flemington)
Slydini - Strong effort in difficult conditions. Suited at this time of the year.
Zayam - Holds scope to improve off this solid effort.Ever So Natural - Will take plenty of benefit from his first-up effort.
Reldas - Positive return to form. Good sprinter for the winter months. We’re Sure - Not disgraced. Follow if he stays in Melbourne.
