Chris Scholtz - Early Thoughts

R&S Contributing Editor Chris Scholtz takes a look at tomorrow’s Sydney racing.

SELECTIONS

Randwick Race 1 - 9 Lieder

Expecting a much improved performance from this Godolphin youngster on what he showed on debut earlier in the season when he had excuses. He is unbeaten in three trials and was regarded by the stable as a big autumn prospect before a minor setback in February.

The extra time appears to have benefitted this Street Cry colt as he was very strong though the line in his most recent trial win at Warwick Farm on May 11 when he handled soft conditions with plenty of confidence.

Randwick Race 7 - 8 Alberto Magic

Took his growing record to five wins from nine starts with an excellent first-up win over 1200m at Rosehill on May 9, keeping intact his unbeaten record on affected tracks.

Has a lot going for him here as the drop back to 1100m is no issue, he is down 2kg in weight to counter a rise in grade and will again have the track conditions in his favour.

Randwick Race 8 - 5 Copy

Genuine mare well placed to bounce back to winning form after her eye catching effort last start when hitting the line late in the G3 Darley Crown over 1300m at Rosehill at her first start for eight weeks.

Benefits greatly from the drop in grade and weight, coming in under the limit with the benefit of Brodie Loy’s 3kg claim, and will relish the extra trip as al her three wins have all come at 1400m.

Boasts strong wet form and suspect her wide draw will be a definite advantage at the end of this program.
