Very promising galloper who returned in great order last Saturday working home solidly to finish second behind War in the Up and Coming Stakes.
While clearly not at his best over 1300m he will take plenty of benefit out of the performance and is expected to progress nicely this preparation.
While not seen at his best as 2YO until stepping out over 1800m, the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes is a grand final but expect him to still run some very nice races along the way in both the Golden Rose and the Gloaming Stakes.
Lucky Penny looks set for a successful campaign after making a solid return at Moonee Valley last weekend. Having been slow away from the wide draw she was unable to take up her favoured position up on the speed and was unsuited over the shorter trip.
She was left with too much to do from back of the field but the way she found the line indicated that she is back as well as ever recording one of the quickest closing sectionals.
Only lightly raced she looks set for further improvement and is nailed on to take a nice race when going to 1400-1600m in the weeks ahead.

Loyal Toast - Monday 26 August @ Hawkesbury
Looks a nice type for the Darley team and showed good improvement at his first trial as a 3YO when saluting with ease recording one of the quickest times of the morning.
Jumping fairly from the inside he showed good early speed to find the front and when challenged in the early part of the straight he showed a nice turn of foot to draw away from his rivals.
Although asked for an effort he does appear very promising and given he is a half-brother to the handy Knoydart he does profile nicely and is definitely one to keep a close eye on when he makes his debut.
Eligible Blackbookers Racing This Weekend
Some of the recent runners that have been Blackbooked by us are engaged this weekend and we think should be included in your punting thoughts.
Has been entered for three races but Rosehill seems the likely option. Flashed home first up and the Premier’s Cup is the race David Vandyke would most like to run in on his way to potentially the Naturalism Stakes. Maybe the Metropolitan is a better plan?
From the same stable as Prince Cheri and he too would have those feature staying races in mind. Had to chase a devilishly hard speed at Rosehill behind Winning Glory carrying 59kg and drops a lot in weight here.
This stable seem our favourites at the moment but Vandyke has a nice team going. Impressive on debut in the heavy when the trainer was only running because he believed he was unbeatable. Lovely trial where we blackbooked him and he could make himself into a Golden Rose candidate but this is one tough race.
Could hardly have done more when rattling away from them at Caulfield in an Open handicap on 17 August. One of the OTI squad for the Spring, he’s with Mick Price who hasn’t had many of them before. Is a German G3 winner but more of what he produced last time will make him an Aussie group winner soon too. Might be another off to the Naturalism.
He similarly takes on the Slickpix Stakes after a top fourth in an unsuitable 1200m down the straight. At worst looks a 2000m horse and probably better on slow going but the Craig Williams booking is interesting.
