NEW SOUTH WALES

SR 1: Graham Begg's filly (7) KYRIA was a standout from the Canterbury 2YO trials on 19 September, showing a real touch of class to circle the field from off the pace and cruise to the line in the fastest of the 12 heats over 900m. (9) MY SHABELLA also impressed running a just a tick slower but doing everything right to win unextended by 3½ lengths. (4) HUSSOUSA also looked to have plenty of natural ability leading for a soft win in her heat while the placegetters in Kyria's heat (3) DEAR DEMI and (12) SUNDAY TOO FAR should run bold races. Gold Coast trial winner (11) SNIPZU is obviously well regarded by a top stable to come to Sydney for her debut.

SR 2: No standouts among the colts winners in this field from the Canterbury trials where they ran slower times than the filly Kyria. (12) SPIRIT OF SPEED is a strong type and looked open to improvement on his win over (2) FORGET. (6) LORD DUVEEN and (3) GOTTAGUN also responded well to win heats but in much slower time. The Canterbury trial form has to be lined up against (4) HIDDEN WARRIOR, who turned on the speed to win a Newcastle trial over 800m by seven lengths on 20 September. A lot of interest in (13) WAZEER coming off a second in a Tatura trial in Victoria in fast time for the David Hayes stable.

SR 3-5 STARTREUSSE (Chris Waller): After his odds on defeat first-up Startreusse went back to the trials to win a 1050m heat at Randwick on 20 September. He went too hard first up and stable suggests different tactics will be applied.

SR 4: Good mare (6) HURTLE MYRTLE had too much class for her rivals in a weak 1030m heat at Rosehill on 13 September while the unbeaten (7) LUCHA LIBRE stretched out well winning a Randwick trial over 1050m on 20 September. Good preps by both but they meet a tough field first-up.

SR 5-1 MY KINGDOM OF FIFE (Chris Waller): No trainer utilises trials between starts better than Chris Waller and by giving My Kingdom Of Fife an easy second in a 1200m heat at Randwick on 20 September should ensure the classy import is ready for the 2000m second up.

SR 7: Another Chris Waller trial for (8) RED TRACER to make up for a month between runs with the mare running a nice third behind Pureness and My Kingdom Of Fife at Randwick on 20 September. (15) WILLY JIMMY has had a similar prep and ran last of five in the same trial.

SR 9-14 CRAFTY IRNA (Ron Quinton): She was fitted for the Metropolitan when she went to the trials at Randwick on 20 September for a fourth in the 1200m heat won by Pureness.

VICTORIA

MR 1-6 HOLY RIGHT (John McArdle): This Exceed And Excel colt did the job in winning a 2yo trial at Cranbourne importantly in a big field which this race could end up being.

MR 1-12 KANGXI (David Hayes): Interestingly for the same owners but a different stable, she won a Tatura five horse trial on 12 September. The stable have a habit of winning these early races down the Flemington straight.

MR 2-6 COLLAR (Robert Hickmott): Since his first up trial and fourth at Sandown went back to the Cranbourne trials for a nice pep up for his next run. Was impressive on debut and has definite ability.

MR 7-5 LINTON (Robert Hickmott): Has gone run, trial, run, trial so far this campaign. He was very unlucky and a touch fresh in the Dato Tan Chin Nam at Moonee Valley and had another practice at Cranbourne again before the Turnbull.

VIC TRIALLERS RACING INTERSTATE:

SR 8-5 MOURAYAN (Robert Hickmott): After nice lead up to the Metrop, he has again trialled as part of the Hickmott/Williams regime getting them fit without racing. It seems to be working for this horse. He may run here or in Melbourne.

QUEENSLAND

BR 4-5 COUNT YOUR FINGERS (John Thompson): A quiet trial at Gold Coast on 20 September. She got to competing in G1 races in the Autumn. Remember first up last time in she was placed in a high quality Vanity at Flemington.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

AR 2-2 UNIVERSAL BOLT (Mark Minervini): After getting to The Jansz in March, he went for a spell. But has returned for this campaign with two trials, the latter being a win at the Parks circuit.

AR 2-6 HENNY (Jess Giles): Was a length second in a Murray Bridge trial on 16 September. She should get a trip in the future as the sire Half Hennessy won the Qld Derby by six lengths.
