The Ladies Team consisting of Hayley Turner, Rachel Venniker and Marie Velon won this year's Shergar Cup.

This was thanks to a Turner double and she established a new benchmark in winning her third silver saddle.  Rachel King's win on Insanity was hugely popular as she had worked for Alan King before going to Australia.

Over at Newmarket the Sweet Solera's most exciting result was the 100th Group winner for Frankel when Lake Victoria saluted.  Mountain Breeze was 2 lengths behind in second.

In Ireland the Phoenix Sprint saw a welcome return to the winner's circle for Givemethebeatboys after his disappointing run at Ascot but turns out he had an abscess in his mouth on that day.  Kind of Blue was second and My Mate Alf third and Moss Tucker had been scratched.

The Phoenix Stakes is hard for us to write about as Whistlejacket finished second to the filly Babouche – "Ladies first" may be OK off the track but not on the track!
