The race was postponed twice because of bad weather.

That's unprecedented as we know of it being postponed once but two days is very rare.

This July race is called the Palio of the Provenzano and the Nicchio Contrada was probably favourite as it had won the big trial and also the 4th.

However it was the Onda who won with their horse Tabacco and jockey nicknamed "Brigante".  They got to the lead on the second of the three turns of the piazza and kept out of trouble by staying there to the end.

The next Palio takes place on 15th August (weather permitting).
