Westover bowls them over!

While it may not have been the most competitive Irish Derby field it managed to provide a stunning result.

Westover, in the capable hands of Colin Keane came with a blistering turn of foot and won by a soft 7 lengths.  It will be interesting to see where Ralph Beckett sends the son of Frankel next.  The rest of the field for various reasons was not in the same race.

On Friday Camarra 10/1 won the Curragh Cup for Ger Lyons and Colin Keane and they could be looking at either the St Leger or a trip to Melbourne.  Gear Up ran second ad Wordsworth third.

On Saturday's undercard the Aga Khan's Shartash won the Railway Stakes from Blackbeard who put on quite a performance before the gates and while we understand that he's done that before we don't think he should be expending so much of his energy prior to the start.  Full marks to Ryan Moore who managed to stay on what was a rodeo performance.  They ran second in the end and poor Crispy Cat was more limp than crispy and finished at the wrong end of the field.

In the ARM Holding International G3 Ryan had a much easier time of it with the obliging Aikhal who held out Duke de Sessa for the verdict.

Sunday's card features the G2 Airlie Stud Stakes and the G1 Pretty Polly.  In the Airlie there are two runners who impressed on their respective debuts – Statuette for Aidan and Ryan, with 2/3 for the daughter of Justify, and Zarinski for Ger Lyons and Col Keane on 5/1.  7 run.

The Pretty Polly is over 2000m and 9 to run.  10/3 is the quote for La Petite Coco and My Astra while we are still supportive of Purple Pay 7/2 and Concert Hall on 6/1.
