Their runners were on opposite sides of the track but the Godolphin pair got the 1-2.

Naval Crown on the stand side with James Doyle got the verdict over Creative Force with William Buick up and the odds were 33/1 and 12/1 respectively for the Appleby runners.

Artorius ran a great race to dead heat for third with the American Capanelle 10/1 and Sacred ran on well for fourth.

So what happened with Home Affairs?  He was doing well on the stand side until 200m out when he didn't seem able to pick up – either the ground was hurting him or something else happened but he faded out of contention.

There was another good win for the Godolphin Appleby-Buick team when Noble Truth won the Jersey Stakes.  Looks like the gelding worked well in his case!  Find for the Gosdens with David Egan riding came second on 40/1 and third home was Dubai Poet on 20/1.  Not a bad run for the German raider Rocchigianni with jockey and trainer now heading to Italy for the Italian Oaks.  Word is that Appleby is looking at the Eagle in Australia for Noble Truth.

And the Hardwicke – a happy result for our darling Broome who got a well-earned victory over Mostahdaf 11/2 and favourite Hurricane Lane who is focused on October and the Arc.

Not forgetting the Wokingham where Rohaan 18/1 got a rare repeat victory thanks to a magic ride from Ryan Moore who threaded the very narrow needle to squeeze his mount through and charge home.  Popmaster, one of our roughies, kindly obliged at 14/1 and was followed home by Jumby, Mr Wagyu and Summerghand.
