Dettori gets redemption

Fortunately for Franke Dettori nothing went wrong when he rode Inspiral to victory in the Coronation Stakes.

The talented filly remains unbeaten and was 4 ½ lengths ahead of American filly Spendarella who was defeated for the first time but who was the best of the rest.  Discoveries ran a close third for Jessica Harrington and Shane Foley.

It was a hot day – 30 which is seriously hot for London – and the coats came off, the ties came off, the hats came off and we had better not go any further than that.  The Albany G3 for the 2yo fillies saw one of the misbehaving in the gates and get scratched and that was our roughie Believing who was on 22/1!  Meditate got the verdict by 1 ¼ lengths from favourite Mawji and Ivory Madonna 66/1 ran third.

The Commonwealth Cup was a perfect result for Perfect Power – Fahey-Soumillon with Flaming Rib second on 14/1 and Flotus 40/1 third and dour roughie Cadamosta 40/1 fourth which pays in the UK as there were 20 starters.

Then it was down to the Coronation Stakes G1 for the 3yo fillies with John Gosden not too happy with Dettori's efforts the previous day and Gosden is not afraid to speak his mind.  However Dettori got out of jail thanks to Inspiral and got his first winner of the week.

It was lovely to see Hayley Turner ride the winner of the last and it was as usual a very well-judged ride,
