Preakness in Pimlico

The weekend starts with the Friday and the running of the Black-Eyed Susan.

This is Gr 2 for 3yo fillies over the 1800m with 13 going to post.  Adare Manor tops the morning line on 5/2 for McCarthy-Velazquez – she's a daughter of Uncle Mo.

Others in the market are Luna Belle on 9/2 and two on 6/1 – Distinctlypossible and Interstatedaydream by Curlin and Classic Empre respectively.

Saturday's Preakness is a small-ish field of 9 with Kentucky Derby second Epicenter on 11/10 for Steve Asmussen and Joel Rosario.  They were almost there in the Derby but that's another story.  Early Voting on 4/1 seems appropriate in our Aussie election time setting with Jose Luis Ortiz riding for Chad Brown.

However this might be the year when the filly upsets the boys – there are not many fillies who try, but this year's Kentucky Oaks winner Secret Oath is taking on the boys and she's 9/2.  She's very nicely drawn and of course as a weight advantage.  Luis Saez rides for D Wayne Lukas.

We have a roughie here in Armagnac 20/1 coming from California with Tim Yakteen and Irad Ortiz on board – she's 20/1 which is a nice each-way and should produce enough for you to enjoy some samples of her name-sake.

There has already been a heat warning out for both days with temperatures in the mid 30s expected and high humidity.
