Irish Guineas weekend at the Curragh

Saturday's card sees us going through the Group races from G3 to G1.

The G3 is for the babies.  Tough Talk has been put in as favourite for Ger Lyons and Colin Keane on 7/4 but we would like to keep the two Aidan O'Brien runners safe – Blackbeard on 2/1 and the filly Deneuve on 11/2 – both are by No Nay Never.  Blackbeard has won both his starts to date and Deneuve her debut.

The Greenlands Stud Stakes G2 over 1200m has 9 runners headed by the Al Quoz winner A Case of You who delighted all at Meydan – Ado McGuiness has Ronan Whelan on board.  Glen Shiel is next on 7/2 for Archie Watson and Hollie Doyle and Hugo Palmer has secured the services of William Buick for Brad The Brief who is on 4/1.

The Irish 2000 Guineas is over 1600m and has a field of 9 headed by Native Trail who is odds-on for Godolphin's Appleby-Buick team.  Buckeroo comes in at 4/1 with Ivy League 14/1 for O'Brien-Moore and maybe a roughie here in Jim Bolger's Wexford Native with Kevin Manning in the irons and a quote of 16/1.

Sunday's card sees the running of the Tattersalls Gold Cup over 2100m with 12 runners headed by another Dubai World Cup day winner in Lord North, who dead-heated for 1st in the Dubai Turf.  He's on 7/4 with Joseph O'Brien's Cox Plate and Prix Ganay winner State of Rest on 11/4.  Another English raider Alanquer is 7/2 and Broome who sees to be carrying entries to just about everything is on 6/1.

The 1000 Guineas has 15 runners with the market headed by the lovely filly Tuesday on 5/2.  Homeless Songs was scratched from the French version last weekend in favour of this and is on 11/4 with two other O'Brien fillies History and Concert Hall also in the market on 5/1 and 8/1.  And do not forget Wild Beauty – she let us down last time although we aren't quite sure if there was a reason for this so 12/1 could be worth a small investment.
